Our client’s hardware-led solution for Fleet Management systems for commercial vehicles did not support a voice-calling feature identified as an emerging need in the market.
Time to market was critical to winning the tender for a client.
New hardware must be within the presently available mechanical constraints.
Existing firmware had limitations to accommodate new features.
CLIENT BENEFITS
Quick time to market using enhancement on the old hardware.
Accommodating new hardware in present mechanical constraints avoids the cost of redesigning the enclosure.
The use of original firmware development reduces the cost of new development.
Use of existing inventory for the new design
PROBLEM STATEMENT
Fleet tracking product enhancement with voice calling support
PRODUCT FEATURES DEVELOPED BY ACCLIVIS
Perform incremental enhancement in hardware to support voice functionality.
Use present firmware and add additional features to support hardware functionality.
Select components considering mechanical constraints and available timeline to deliver the product to the end customer.
Acclivis modified the existing board with the voice codec IC to implement the voice calling feature in it. To implement that feature Acclivis identified a suitable chip to interact with the GSM module.
It also needs to modify the PCB layout at the restricted space in consideration of the EMI EMC. There was also a need to add Analog filtration for the mic and speaker for smooth communication
